InVision is dedicated to the ideal that the founding principles upon which our great Nation was established are not only relevant, but are very much alive and well today. That the people of East Central Indiana personify the belief that the power of the individual, if unbridled, can usher in a new era of prosperity, innovation, economic growth and individual self-realization. InVision has been established for the sole purpose of improving the communities of East Central Indiana, by complementing and supporting the efforts of the Republican Party.
InVision will achieve its goal through education, community outreach, candidate support, voter mobilization and legal compliance.
InVision will take an aggressive role in providing information regarding the history of the Republican Party, its roots and foundation, as well as providing a greater historical perspective and current relevance to the challenges confronting voters of East Central Indiana. InVision will further address the “myths” of Conservatism.
InVision will take an active role in attracting top local writers to prepare “letters to the editor” to provide information to the general public. InVision is creating a website and accompanying blog to reinforce the Conservative message. A speaker’s bureau is being assembled to attract top state and national conservatives to gain earned media and draw attention to the Republican Party and message. InVision will create and fund direct mail pieces to the people of East Central Indiana to provide factual information regarding pending legislation at the State and National level, as well as updates as to how elected officials have voted and/or responded to constituent inquiries. There will be further “calls to action” providing a road map as to how Republicans can get involved to influence policy at the local and national levels.
2. Community Outreach
As Republicans we have to stand by our philosophy. We believe that Government is incapable of administering charity. Opponents to individual freedom have very successfully framed Republicans as “angry, greedy, old, white men”. InVision appreciates that such labels are not supported by the facts. Admittedly, Republicans, have taken every wrong turn imaginable in refuting such allegations. The reality is that Conservatives are more charitable than any other group. The problem is that with Lyndon B. Johnson’s “Great Society” came a surrender of individual responsibility and the pride of charity. We have witnessed more State and Federal dollars being poured into the social programs contemplated by the philosophy of the “Great Society”, yet we have received no return on our investment. Our Institutions are being marginalized and/or minimized. Our families, churches, and charities have been replaced by government. As history has proven, government by its very nature is incapable of providing the services most needed and traditionally provided by our institutions. Great societies are measured by the strength of their institutions. Government reliance destroys foundationalinstitutions and great societies are the ultimate casualty. Government, through redistribution has stolen the gift of charity from the most charitable. Our Founders envisioned a charitable society and understood that charity is food for the soul. Without charitable nourishment, the soul perishes and is vulnerable to the devices of government.
The reality of our world is that from time to time our neighbors need assistance. InVision will provide such assistance. InVision will implement a strategy to identify community charitable needs. InVision will fund and appropriately staff at a level sufficient to address the individual needs of each community. InVision will provide support for the unemployed, tutoring for disadvantaged children, “return to work” programs, youth sports, programs designed to curb drug and alcohol dependence and any other worthy charitable program. InVision will further endow a scholarship to assist children from lower income families attend school field trips.
3. Candidate Support
A significant problem, as identified by InVision is the necessity of Republican Candidates to “learn on the fly”. Many Republican candidates have never been involved in a political campaign and as such they begin their endeavor at a significant disadvantage. In response, InVision will create, sponsor, staff and support the InVision Institute of Applied Politics. The Institute will create a curriculum designed to provide prospective candidates with the information necessary to run a successful campaign. The faculty of the Institute will be comprised of elected officials, former candidates, media employees, spouses, political consultants, etc. The course material will be dedicated to building and sustaining effective grass roots campaigns. The InVision Institute will become a template for Republican candidates across East Central Indiana and graduation from the Institute will be a prerequisite to receiving financial assistance and contribution from InVision.
In addition to ongoing fundraising efforts, InVision will host 2 significant events. The purpose of the events is to primarily showcase the Republican Candidates and secondarily to raise funds to support the Republican Candidates’ campaigns. The events will be scheduled in April and June of each year. The net funds raised will be made available proportionally equivalent to the funds raised by each candidate who has won his/her primary contest and has also graduated from the InVision Institute of Applied Politics. Depending on need, InVision may sponsor further fundraising events to assist candidates.
InVision will also maintain a database of volunteers. Candidates may request the assistance of InVision volunteers for the purpose of walking neighborhoods, staffing phone banks, sign locations, sign placement, direct mail assistance, data analysis, strategy, composition of campaign materials, media relations, etc.
4. Voter Mobilization
The “call to action” or “get out the vote” effort is perhaps the most important function of InVision. InVision will systematically put into place an effective network designed to maximize voter turnout. InVision will utilize proven methods of communication to complement candidates’ efforts to assure supporters find their way to the polls. InVision will staff and fund a call center beginning 3 days prior to the election to remind voters to vote for Republican candidates. Staff members will gather information regarding special needs of voters, including location of polling places and transportation requirements. The call center will be staffed until the polls close on Election Day, and transportation will be provided to voters throughout East Central Indiana.
5. Legal Compliance
InVision will provide legal counsel to any candidate who believes Indiana’s election laws have been violated or have been inconsistently applied.
